Basset Hound

In addition to being an ideal playmate for children, they also get along very well with children, animals and dogs. Children should not pull their ears, should not sit on their backs. They are social and should not be left alone. They may salivate. They are known by their deep and emotional eyes. The skin on their eyes is saggy; their ears are not upright but they are long. They have thick bones and huge head in the shape of a dome. They have a slightly curved tail, round, large feet attached to their wrinkled legs.

Basset Hound Training

They are one of the dog breeds that must be trained patiently. They must always be active to stimulate their interest. They may not comply with the rules as long as they are not rewarded with food.

Basset Hound Care

In addition to cleansing dead hair with combs, the ears should be kept clean against infection. Foot fingernails should be cut regularly. The body structure which is similar to Basset Hound breeds, can cause obesity, back and skeletal problems. There is a possibility of getting GDV disease. This disease means bulging due to excessive gas and it is always a matter of needing attention. To reduce the risk of obesity and GDV, the meals should be spread regularly throughout the day and not given too much food.

Basset Hound Character Structure

They have a free-spirited, social, calm, patient and playful character. Basset Hound breed dogs are pretty good-hearted and compatible. They love the family. They can be a bit stubborn and food is always important to them. When you look at their soft-looking face, you can't help yourself hugging them.

The ability to search between leaves has been further developed with the help of short legs and pointed noses . Particularly suitable for rabbit hunting. Thanks to 3. Napoleon having a few dogs of this breed, the popularity increased steadily and earned an international reputation in dog show at Paris in 1863. Thus they were brought to America in the 1800s. In some cities, such as New Orleans and Buffalo, the King and Queen, held special races and festivals, including the Basset crowning ceremony. Illustrated novel character Fred Basset and the logo of the 'Hush Puppies' brand shoes are well known examples of this race.
